About

Service sets Arcadia Stockyard apart from the competing stockyards.  The owner, Carl McKettrick is easily accessible and always on site.  Arcadia Stockyard uses misters for the animals, which allows for lower stress.  Our facility features a newer State-Of-The-Art Market, easy Drive-Thru Unloading, and a Front Porch Atmosphere!

Carl McKettrick

Owner Carl McKettrickAfter 24 years of buying cattle for Thomas Cattle Buying Services in Florida and representing Martin Abattoir of North Carolina for 9 years, I decided to hang up my buyer’s hat and build a livestock market.  This was one the most challenging things I had ever done.  So in January of 2005, we broke ground and started construction of the soon to be Arcadia Stockyard.

Since becoming the owner of a livestock market, I have learned the value of customer service.  It is important to me when doing business here that  you find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.  My staff and I work hard to meet your marketing needs so the relationships started can last a lifetime.

I have always felt it is important to stay involved with the current issues concerning our industry.  In order to be informed, I decided to join the many associations connected with the cattle industry.  As a member of the Florida Association of Livestock Markets, I was elected to serve as their President from 2009 – 2011.  With this commitment, came seats on the Executive Board of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association and the Beef Council Board.  Currently, I serve as State Director for the DeSoto County Cattlemen’s Association.  I was honored to be asked by the Livestock Marketing Association of Kansas City to judge the Regional Auctioneer Championship that was held in Crawford, NE.  Then, on June 19, 2010, I traveled to Oklahoma City, OK to judge the 47th Annual World Livestock Auctioneer Championship.

To better serve your marketing needs, I am always willing to get involved and spend the time necessary to help our cattle industry be competitive in today’s world.  Whether you are buying or selling, one animal or a truckload, I want to be of service to you not only on sale day, but anytime.

Libby T McKettrick

Libby T McKettrickI’ve always had a strong connection to the agricultural industry.  It may surprise some of you to know that at one time I worked for Kay Kelly in the office of the Arcadia State Livestock Market.  Never did I think the work experience would help me with a future endeavor, but as it turns out this would be only the beginning of my livestock market career.

For seven years starting in 1993 and lasting through the year 2000 my Dad, Phil Turner, managed the Arcadia Livestock Market, Inc.  Here I would gain invaluable experience in the record requirements of a cattle auction.  I learned that customer appreciation and service are the most important part of a successful business.

Then came that out of the blue question, “Honey, would you like to build a livestock market?”  Before I knew it we were building the Arcadia Stockyard to serve our community and surrounding counties.  We are dedicated to providing that friendly atmosphere where we don’t use buyer numbers, but we want to know your name.
